Jane Eyre, while a problematic book, is still one I return to. A woman claiming her place as a man's equal was thrilling when I first read it as a young teenager, and still is now.

In this series, I use pastel and crayon to create marks inspired by the text on the specific page.

These pages (page 4 and 5) deal with Jane's childhood antagonist John Reed. She tries to stay out of the way, but still incurs his bullying wrath.
